About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Fabricator/Welder (Intermediate–Senior) to join the busy workshop team based in East Tamaki, Auckland. This is a hands-on workshop position suited to someone who takes pride in producing high-quality fabrication and welding work while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of fabrication projects involving structural steel, stainless steel, and other metal components. The role requires strong technical skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and a commitment to producing accurate and professional workmanship.
This is a workshop-only role with no site work required, providing stability and consistency in your day-to-day work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately
- Measure, mark out, cut, shape, and assemble metal materials using fabrication tools and equipment
- Carry out MIG, TIG, and general welding tasks to a high industry standard
- Fabricate and assemble components according to project requirements and production schedules
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
- Grind, polish, and finish fabricated products for final presentation and installation readiness
- Operate workshop machinery, hand tools, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other workshop staff
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and company policies at all times
- Assist with troubleshooting fabrication issues and identifying practical engineering solutions
- Meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship
Skills and Experience Required
To succeed in this role, applicants should possess:
- Intermediate to senior-level experience in fabrication and welding
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and workshop drawings
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding processes
- Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and workshop practices
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good problem-solving and time-management skills
- Physically fit and capable of handling workshop-based tasks
- Reliable work ethic with a positive and professional attitude
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures
- Trade qualification in fabrication, welding, or engineering (preferred but not essential)
- Full New Zealand working rights
