Job Overview
Andritz Hydro is hiring two Trades Assistants to support its expert team on a major hydro project at Kaitawa Power Station in Hawke’s Bay. The company offers this role to individuals who enjoy practical work and want to build their careers in mechanical and electrical trades. The project site lies approximately two hours from Napier, Hastings, and Gisborne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist fitters, electricians, and other tradespeople in daily tasks
  • Unpack, clean, inspect, disassemble, and reassemble mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Follow all instructions accurately in a safety-sensitive environment
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace
  • Handle and maintain tools and equipment responsibly
  • Participate actively in site safety procedures and standards
  • Learn new skills and continuously improve technical knowledge

Skills and Experience Required

  • Demonstrate basic experience in mechanical or industrial environments (preferred)
  • Show strong interest in mechanical or electrical work
  • Follow instructions carefully and work effectively in a team
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Apply safety awareness in all tasks

Licences and Certifications

  • Hold a Forklift Licence (preferred)
  • Hold a Class 4 Driver’s Licence (preferred)
  • Possess First Aid, Working at Heights, or Confined Spaces certifications (advantageous)

The company will provide training if candidates do not already hold the required certifications.

Working Hours and Conditions

  • Work 9 hours per day, 5 days per week
  • Accept overtime opportunities, including occasional Saturdays
  • Perform duties on-site at a hydro power station project
