Job Overview
Andritz Hydro is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its skilled workforce for a major hydro project at Kaitawa Power Station in Hawke’s Bay. The project site is located approximately two hours from Napier, Hastings, and Gisborne. This role offers the opportunity to work in a technically demanding environment while contributing to a significant infrastructure project.
Key Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate strong technical expertise, reliability, and a commitment to teamwork. The ideal candidate must have:
- A relevant Trade Certificate with confidence in mechanical fitting work
- A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in a similar role
- The ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant industry standards to completed work
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Advanced-level English communication skills (speaking and reading) to ensure effective site communication
Additional certifications, such as First Aid, Confined Space, and Working at Heights, are considered an advantage; however, training will be provided if not already held.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Actively contributing to maintaining a safe working environment on site
- Assembling mechanical components and equipment according to technical drawings and specifications
- Ensuring all work meets required quality standards and project specifications
- Collaborating effectively with team members and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently
- Following all safety protocols and site procedures at all times
Working Conditions
- Standard working hours: 9 hours per day, 5 days per week
- Overtime opportunities may be available, including Saturdays
- Work will be conducted on-site at a hydro power station project location
Contract Duration
This is a fixed-term position scheduled to commence in July 2026 and is expected to conclude around late August to early September 2027, depending on project timelines.
