Job Overview

Air North, Yukon’s Airline is seeking an experienced and reliable Food Preparer to join its food services team in Whitehorse, Yukon. This full-time, permanent position offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced aviation catering environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing, packaging, and maintaining high-quality food products in compliance with airline catering standards, food safety regulations, and airport security requirements.

This is an on-site position, and remote work is not available.

Candidates must be comfortable working flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities

The Food Preparer will perform a variety of food handling, preparation, and sanitation duties, including:

Food Preparation Duties

Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items
Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits
Portion and wrap foods according to airline specifications
Package take-out and in-flight food items
Stock refrigerators, freezers, and salad bars

Kitchen Operations

Operate kitchen equipment such as:
- Conventional ovens
- Grills
- Manual and electrical food preparation appliances
Receive, unpack, and store supplies properly
Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper food rotation

Cleaning & Sanitation

Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, cupboards, appliances, and storage areas
Maintain strict food hygiene standards
Follow WHMIS and workplace safety regulations
Ensure compliance with Food Safety Certificate requirements

Education Requirements

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience Requirements

3 years to less than 5 years of experience in food preparation, commercial kitchen, or catering environment
Experience in high-volume or airline catering is considered an asset

Required Certifications

Valid Food Safety Certificate
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Must be eligible for Airport Security Clearance
