About the Role
FarmRight Ltd is seeking fit, reliable, and motivated individuals to join our apple harvesting team in Riwaka, Motueka, ideally located near the stunning Abel Tasman National Park.
This is a fixed-term seasonal position commencing approximately early March 2026 through to early May 2026, depending on harvest maturity and seasonal conditions.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking seasonal employment, outdoor work, or a pathway into a long-term career within New Zealand’s thriving horticulture sector.
Key Responsibilities
As an Apple Picker, your responsibilities will include:
- Harvesting apples carefully and efficiently to meet quality standards
- Handling fruit with care to avoid bruising or damage
- Working on ladders for extended periods
- Maintaining productivity targets while ensuring quality control
- Working collaboratively within a team environment
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
This role requires consistent physical activity and the ability to work in a fast-paced orchard environment.
Skills & Requirements
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong work ethic and positive “can-do” attitude
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves climbing ladders and repetitive movement
- Comfort working at heights
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak harvest periods
- Ability to work effectively within diverse, multicultural teams
- Readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable personal transport to and from the orchard location
Previous experience as an Apple Picker or Orchard Hand is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. We welcome applications from:

I do not have experience as a document picker; however, I know how to pick fruits because my father is a farmer, and I grew up helping him on the farm, taking care of animals, and planting rice and vegetables. I am also willing to undergo training if needed.
