Gattings is currently seeking a motivated, reliable, and hardworking Kitchenhand / Delivery Person to join our busy catering operations in St Johns, Auckland. This is a full-time, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality environment and takes pride in both food preparation and customer service.

In this dual-responsibility position, you will play an essential role in supporting kitchen operations while also ensuring the safe and timely delivery of meals to customers across the local Auckland area. Your contribution will directly impact the quality of service and customer satisfaction that Gattings is known for.

The Role

This position combines kitchen assistance duties with delivery responsibilities. You will work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and operations team members to ensure smooth daily workflow from food preparation to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Support Duties

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks including chopping, washing, peeling, portioning, and packaging ingredients
• Prepare meal components according to company standards and instructions
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen workspace at all times
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required
• Monitor stock levels and assist with restocking supplies
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations

Delivery Responsibilities

• Safely transport meals and catering orders to customers in a timely manner
• Load and unload food containers and catering equipment carefully
• Ensure all deliveries are accurate and meet quality standards
• Provide friendly, professional, and courteous customer service
• Communicate effectively with customers and the internal team regarding delivery updates
• Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the delivery vehicle

General Support

• Assist with event setup and pack-down when required
• Support other operational tasks as directed by management
• Contribute positively to team culture and overall business operations

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate reliability, energy, and a strong work ethic.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, catering, or hospitality role (preferred but not essential for the right candidate)
• Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• A valid New Zealand driver’s licence
• Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving heavy items safely
• Strong time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
