Intertek, a leading global provider of Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification (ATIC) services, is actively seeking a highly experienced Welding Inspector specializing in subsea equipment. This is a critical, long-term, on-site role based at a supplier facility in the Ravenna area. The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring all welding work meets the stringent technical specifications of the project and complies fully with international industry standards (e.g., ISO, AWS, ASME). This role extends beyond simple inspection; it involves providing technical guidance and acting as a key representative for quality assurance.
Core Responsibilities and Technical Duties
The Welding Inspector’s responsibilities cover the entire lifecycle of quality verification, safety compliance, and technical support within the subsea fabrication process.

Inspection Accuracy: Conduct thorough visual inspections of all welding work and related fabrication processes to confirm absolute compliance with project specifications, approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and relevant industry codes.

Technical Consultation: Proactively engage with project teams and the supplier, offering expert technical guidance and providing effective solutions to complex welding-related challenges and non-conformities.

Comprehensive Documentation: Meticulously document all inspection findings, observations, and decisions in comprehensive reports. This requires exceptional attention to detail to ensure traceability and audit readiness, which is vital for long-term subsea asset integrity.

Quality Enhancement: Actively collaborate on continuous improvement processes and quality assurance initiatives to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of welding practices at the supplier site.

Defect Identification: Maintain a high level of vigilance in identifying, documenting, and managing defects or non-conformities during all inspection stages, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.

Safety Leadership: Champion safety, strictly ensuring that all inspection activities adhere to Intertek’s and the site’s stringent safety protocols and regulations.
Mandatory Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess specific international certifications and demonstrable experience in the role of client representation within the subsea environment.

Required Certification: CSWIP 3.1 certification (or an equivalent, globally recognized qualification, such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector) is non-negotiable for this role.

Language Proficiency: Proficient in English, both spoken and written, is necessary for clear and effective communication with international project teams and reporting structures.

Subsea Project Experience: Extensive prior experience in relevant subsea projects is required, demonstrating familiarity with the high-specification demands of deepwater equipment, piping, and structures.

Client Representation: Previous experience in the influential role of a Client Representative is highly desirable, showcasing the ability to effectively oversee supplier activities and safeguard the client’s interests.
