The Fabrication/Welder Role: A Site-Wide Specialist
As a Fabricator/Welder at Forgemasters, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and improving their extensive 64-acre site. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Fabrication and Pipework Expertise: Design and manufacture essential steel structures and piping to meet the ever-changing demands of the site’s maintenance needs.
- Maintenance and Project Support: Contribute to planning and ordering materials to ensure smooth maintenance operations.
- Effective Communication: Actively participate in meetings with maintenance managers and supervisors to discuss planned work and ensure clear project understanding.
- Meeting Deadlines: Deliver high-quality work within designated timeframes, keeping both planned maintenance and unexpected breakdowns on schedule.
- Safety Champion: Promote a strong safety culture within the Fabrication department by ensuring the safe operation of machinery and hand tools.
Do You Have the Right Skills to Forge Ahead?
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a combination of technical skills and personal qualities:
- Solid Fabrication/Welding Background: Prior experience working in a fabrication or welding role is essential. A relevant qualification in fabrication or welding is a plus.
- Crane Operation Proficiency: The ability to operate cranes, including overhead cranes, is necessary for this role.
- Technical Drawing Savvy: You should be adept at interpreting technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and pipework construction.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to assess problems, troubleshoot faults, and implement effective repairs is crucial.
- Adaptability and Safety: A willingness to work at heights and confined spaces is required. You must also prioritize safety procedures.
- Flexible Schedule: The ability to work weekends and unsociable hours, if necessary, is a plus.
