About the Role

As the Station General Hand, you will report to the Station Manager and contribute significantly to the station’s day-to-day operations. This includes maintenance, livestock management, equipment operation, and general farm responsibilities. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, a genuine passion for farming, and a willingness to support the team’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fencing: Assist in repairing and constructing fences, including strainer posts, swing gates, and batten fences.
  • Machinery Operation: Operate tractors and other farm machinery for winter feeding, topping, and other essential tasks.
  • Livestock Care: Support livestock management, including crutching, drenching, vaccinating, and general animal welfare.
  • Farm Development: Help with the construction of sheep paddocks, subdivision of beef paddocks, and redevelopment of fencing.
  • Yard Rebuilding: Contribute to the rebuilding of sheep and stock yards.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintain station grounds to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • General Duties: Carry out additional farm tasks as required.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in operating tractors and farm machinery.
  • Skills in fencing, including constructing and repairing fences.
  • Hands-on experience with sheep and livestock care.
  • Familiarity with sheep and beef yard operations, such as drenching and vaccinating.
  • Ability to process dog tucker.
  • Basic mechanical and construction skills for general repairs and maintenance.

A proactive mindset, adaptability, and a collaborative attitude are essential to thriving in this position.

Additional Information:

  • No working dog is required for this role.
