This is an on-site position requiring high technical expertise, SATCOM operations knowledge, and the ability to support continuous mission-critical communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
Complete mandatory SATCOM technician training. Follow all work-center operating procedures and security protocols. Perform SATCOM operations, preventive maintenance, outage response, troubleshooting, and system checks. Support TMDE calibration activities and ensure availability of test equipment. Conduct facility maintenance according to established regulations. Maintain proper key control for facilities, secure equipment, and communication assets. Handle COMSEC responsibilities in coordination with COMSEC custodians. Monitor site power levels and supervise PMCS operations. Maintain all configuration management documentation. Ensure workplace safety standards, cleanliness, and operational readiness. Support upgrades, activations, and deactivations of satellite trunks, circuits, equipment, software, and hardware with RNOSC coordination. Prepare revisions to Standard Operating Procedures. Work in an environment that is 90% indoors and 10% outdoors. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required.
Education: High school diploma required; some college preferred. One year of relevant experience can replace one year of education if needed.
Training: SATCOM or microwave maintenance courses preferred; CPR training provided.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience operating satellite communications systems. Must be able to work rotating shifts that ensure 24/7 coverage. Requires experience working in a customer-service-oriented organization. Eligible applicants must pass government security investigations to access classified information.
Work Environment
Fast-paced and mission-critical SATCOM operations environment. Majority indoor facility with occasional outdoor duties. Requires physical stamina, excellent attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work under pressure during outages or system escalations.
