The Role – Key Duties
Hands-on leadership in daily orchard management, ensuring top efficiency and compliance.
Core responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize orchard operations for maximum productivity
- Apply company policies on husbandry techniques under the Orchard Manager’s guidance
- Ensure full adherence to New Zealand legislation and safety standards
- Lead, motivate, and manage staff per HR policies
- Promote and maintain health & safety protocols
- Handle general orchard tasks as needed, including machinery operation
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Proven track record in large-scale horticulture and orchard management
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience
- In-depth knowledge of orchard tech, systems, tree husbandry, pest/disease control, and chemical handling
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management
- Familiarity with machinery maintenance and basic business/financial skills
- Full current NZ driver’s license
- Legal right to work in New Zealand; must pass pre-employment checks (drug test, background)
