Junior Clinician in Small Animal Cardiology – University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital invites applications for a Junior Clinician role in Small Animal Cardiology. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has completed a rotating internship and seeks to advance their specialization in veterinary cardiology.
As a Junior Clinician, you’ll play an essential role in supporting a high-quality small animal cardiology referral service. Under the supervision of our ECVIM Diplomates in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, you’ll deliver specialized care and contribute to our out-of-hours service. This role offers a rewarding environment with opportunities to make meaningful contributions to both patient care and clinical research.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Provide specialist cardiology services for small animals, supporting external practices and owners with expert advice.
- Innovative Techniques: Assist in developing new diagnostic and treatment techniques, enhancing service efficiency and income generation.
- Out-of-Hours Service: Participate in out-of-hours care, covering in-patients, supervising students, and offering external consultations.
- Professional Development: Ensure ongoing CPD to meet RCVS requirements and maintain specialty standards.
- Promotion & Growth: Represent the hospital in events and contribute to academic advancements within the Division.
Requirements
Essential
- Veterinary Degree: Registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
- Clinical Experience: Demonstrated experience in small animal cardiology.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for liaising with internal teams and external veterinary practices.
Desirable
- Previous training in small animal cardiology and experience in clinical settings.
- Masters or PhD in a related field is advantageous.
