🛫 About the Role – What You’ll Be Doing

As a Ramp Agent (also known as a Baggage Handler), you’ll be working on the airport tarmac and engaging in various operational tasks that are essential for each flight’s departure and arrival. These include:

  • Loading and unloading luggage and cargo for commercial aircraft

  • Transferring baggage to and from aircraft safely

  • Operating equipment for baggage sorting and aircraft pushback

  • Performing cabin cleaning and other aircraft turnaround tasks

  • Working in all weather conditions and tight spaces, ensuring a seamless flow of operations

  • Maintaining excellent teamwork and communication across shifts and departments

Your physical capability and coordination will be vital, as you’ll be lifting baggage weighing up to 35kg repeatedly. The work is dynamic, active, and requires strong situational awareness — especially when operating near active aircraft and ground vehicles.

💼 Key Responsibilities for Join the Swissport Team

  • Handle and transport luggage, cargo, and mail to and from aircraft

  • Use manual handling techniques and machinery to sort, load, and unload items

  • Operate on a rotating roster that includes early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, based on airline schedules

  • Maintain safe practices and comply with all health, safety, and security protocols

  • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members to ensure timely aircraft servicing and turnaround

🧭 Who We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, we’re seeking individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 32-35kg repetitively

  • Comfortable with manual labor and repetitive tasks

  • Able to work flexible hours, including early morning and late-night shifts

  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of working in all weather conditions

  • Basic to intermediate computer literacy

  • Excellent work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have full New Zealand work rights (citizen or resident status required)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transport
