About the Role – Packhouse Worker

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated Packhouse Worker to become part of our dynamic and hardworking packhouse team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the horticulture and logistics industry, especially within a well-established and supportive company like SPL. As a Packhouse Worker, you will be actively involved in various tasks associated with the handling, processing, and preparation of capsicums and cucumbers for distribution. This role is integral to our supply chain operations and requires attention to detail, a commitment to maintaining high standards, and a proactive, team-first attitude.

Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on and fast-paced role, you will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to perform the following tasks efficiently: Packing Preparation: Set up packing materials and prepare workstations. Ensure cartons, crates, and packaging tools are readily available for production runs. Product Handling & Stacking: Carefully pack produce into crates or cartons and stack them onto pallets in a safe and organized manner, ensuring compliance with SPL’s packaging standards. Operating Machinery: Learn to safely operate essential packhouse machinery such as the bagging machine, bin hoist, and bin tipper, playing a crucial part in the processing line.

Dispatch Support: Collaborate with the dispatch team to fulfill customer orders. This includes organizing and assembling outgoing shipments efficiently and accurately. Grading Assistance: Provide backup support for produce grading and quality assurance tasks. This involves identifying and separating produce based on quality standards. Equipment Handling: Provide assistance with tractor operation and movement of goods when the packhouse assistant is unavailable. Full training will be provided for this task. Team Support: Contribute to general cleanliness, organization, and workflow of the packhouse to ensure a smooth and safe operation at all times.

Experience Advantageous (but not required)
Experience in a packhouse, warehouse, or agricultural setting is a plus.
However, it is not mandatory. Full training will be provided.
