Job Overview
Vickery Electric Contracting Limited, a reputable and trusted name in the electrical contracting industry, is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join its dynamic team in Whitby, Ontario. This is a full-time, permanent position with an hourly pay range of $35.00 to $50.00, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will work 36 to 44 hours per week on a flexible schedule, which may include morning, day, evening, and night shifts.
This role requires on-site work at various project locations. Candidates must be willing to work in outdoor environments, confined spaces, at heights, and occasionally under cold or dusty conditions. Remote work options are not available for this position.
Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must possess a trade certificate or diploma in the electrical field, demonstrating formal training in electrical systems, safety procedures, and installation techniques.
A minimum of five (5) years or more of relevant experience as a professional electrician is required. Experience in commercial, residential, or institutional settings will be considered a strong asset.
Work Environment
The Electrician will work across a variety of settings, including construction, service, repair, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting projects. Assignments may involve residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, as well as specialized environments such as hospitals or industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities
As a skilled Electrician, the selected candidate will perform a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:

Installing and maintaining electrical controls, panel boxes, and wiring systems in accordance with the Ontario Electrical Code.

Demonstrating a high level of professionalism in customer service and client communication.

Preparing and maintaining maintenance records, service reports, and documentation.

Splicing, joining, and connecting wires safely and effectively.

Designing and constructing low-voltage (30 to 750V) multiphase services for single or multi-meter installations.

Testing and measuring voltage, load capacity, and ground fault integrity to ensure system reliability.

Determining appropriate materials and installation methods for hazardous or sensitive environments.

Troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults to identify and resolve issues promptly.

Installing surface-mounted and overhead cables, ensuring compliance with all safety standards.

Supervising apprentices and providing on-the-job training and guidance.

Installing stand-by power generation systems and power conditioning equipment.

Grounding and bonding electrical systems, including those connected to swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs.

Estimating material costs and project timelines for electrical installations or renovations.

Upgrading or modifying existing electrical systems in residential and commercial structures.

Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, and electrical diagrams with accuracy and precision.
