Key Responsibilities

The Dishwasher’s role is far more than just cleaning dishes—it involves contributing to overall kitchen hygiene, food safety, and organizational support.

Dishwashing and Sanitation

Operate commercial dishwashers efficiently to clean plates, bowls, cutlery, glassware, and kitchen utensils
Wash dishes and cookware manually when required
Ensure all dishes and cooking tools are sanitized according to food safety standards
Scour pots and pans thoroughly
Clean and sanitize dishwasher mats, garbage bins, and other sanitation equipment

Kitchen & Food Prep Support

Assist in basic food prep, such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits
Use manual or electric tools to slice, peel, and trim food
Wrap and portion foods as needed
Help with restocking refrigerators, salad bars, and condiment stations

Cleanliness & Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen areas including countertops, cabinets, workspaces, and storage rooms
Sweep, mop, and polish floors regularly to prevent slip hazards
Remove trash and kitchen waste to maintain a safe and clean environment
Safely handle, store, and monitor cleaning supplies and equipment

Storage & Inventory

Receive and unpack food and supply deliveries
Store items in proper storage units such as refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage
Track and report shortages or damage in supplies
Sharpen kitchen knives (with training and safety precautions)

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to:

  • 9 kg (20 lbs)

  • 13.5 kg (30 lbs)

  • 23 kg (50 lbs)
    Comfortable working on your feet for long periods
    Capable of performing repetitive physical tasks in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
