The Fruit Farm Worker Role: Duties and Responsibilities

Under the Orchard Manager or Supervisor, you’ll handle orchard maintenance, irrigation, and harvest tasks. Duties vary with seasons and weather, including:

• Planting, thinning, and pruning trees; assisting with new orchard development.
• Preparing soil and managing irrigation—installing new systems in spring, maintaining and repairing as needed.
• Safely picking cherries during harvest to avoid damage to fruit, trees, or yourself.
• Sorting, weighing, packing, loading/unloading bins, and general farm maintenance.
• Maintaining equipment and tools.
• Following directions from management and participating in health/safety and ladder training.
