About the Role
As the Breeder Farm Manager, you’ll oversee the daily operations of a 4-shed farm housing over 40,000 birds. You’ll play a crucial role in managing all aspects of bird husbandry, team performance, and maintaining stringent biosecurity standards. We’re looking for a professional with both technical and leadership skills to ensure our farm’s smooth operation, safety, and production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Farm Operations Management: Oversee daily farm operations and ensure production standards are met.
- Flock Husbandry: Manage flock health with humane treatment, adhering to Ingham’s Minimum Standard Procedures.
- Mortality Checks & Vaccinations: Conduct routine mortality checks and manage flock vaccinations to prevent disease.
- Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the team to reach performance targets.
- Safety Programs: Promote a strong safety culture with corrective and preventative safety practices.
- Farm Maintenance: Supervise all maintenance work, liaise with contractors for repairs, and ensure equipment is functioning optimally.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements for operational efficiency.
- Biosecurity & Quarantine: Ensure compliance with quarantine requirements and biosecurity measures.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze data for research and animal husbandry, using technology to optimize farm production.
- Advisory Role: Offer advice on breeding selection, environmental management, and medication use for optimal flock health.
What We’re Looking for in a Candidate:
- Poultry Industry Experience: Previous experience in farming operations or similar roles, preferably within the poultry industry.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, coach, and inspire a team to achieve high performance.
- Modern Farming Knowledge: Understanding of breeder farming techniques, animal welfare, and sustainable farming practices.
- Attention to Detail: Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work to meet production deadlines.
- Biosecurity & Animal Welfare Principles: Strong understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare, ensuring ethical and safe farming practices.
- Technological Proficiency: Experience with farm technology, data analysis, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
