Job Overview

Employment Conditions
This is a full-time, permanent position requiring on-site presence. No remote work is available. The selected candidates must be able to travel to different job sites across Summerside and possibly other parts of PEI, depending on project demands.
Languages Required
Proficiency in English is required for this role. You must be able to read and follow instructions, communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, and understand safety regulations and blueprints.
Education and Experience
Education:

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years and less than 3 years of experience in general carpentry or a related field

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in foundational carpentry tasks such as cutting, measuring, fitting, framing, and finishing

Duties and Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Carpenter, you’ll support the construction team by performing essential carpentry duties under the guidance of experienced professionals. Your daily responsibilities will include:

Measuring and cutting wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel materials according to design specifications

Shaping and assembling building materials using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines
-
Constructing building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, and erecting walls and roof systems

Fitting and installing doors, windows, staircases, mouldings, baseboards, and other finishing hardware

Renovating existing structures by removing and replacing deteriorated components

Maintaining, repairing, and restoring wooden components in residential homes, commercial buildings, and industrial settings

Collaborating with other tradespeople (electricians, plumbers, drywallers) to ensure efficient workflow and project completion

Following detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and safety procedures at every stage of construction

Cleaning and organizing job sites at the beginning and end of each day

Transporting materials and tools to job sites and ensuring proper storage
Tools and Equipment
You must have access to your own basic carpentry tools and appropriate safety gear. The following items are either mandatory or strongly recommended:

Hard hat (mandatory)

Measuring tape, hammer, square, level

Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, chisels, pliers)
