Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent education.

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in greenhouse, nursery, or farm supervision.

Work Site Environment

  • Primarily outdoors in greenhouse and field environments.

  • Work may involve exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and physical activity.

Work Setting

  • On-site only; remote work is not available.

  • Relocation costs are covered by the employer.

Key Responsibilities

As a Greenhouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring productivity, and maintaining crop quality across all greenhouse and nursery activities. Your duties will include:

  • Supervising and coordinating the work of greenhouse and nursery workers, general farm laborers, and harvesting staff (typically 5–10 individuals).

  • Monitoring plant growth, soil conditions, irrigation systems, and pest management programs to ensure optimal production.

  • Maintaining detailed work records and production logs for tracking output, staff performance, and crop health.

  • Requisitioning materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure seamless operations.

  • Providing technical guidance to team members on greenhouse practices, plant care, and equipment usage.

  • Resolving operational challenges and recommending effective strategies to enhance productivity, crop quality, and worker efficiency.

  • Implementing quality control standards to meet company and regulatory requirements.

  • Training and mentoring new staff members on safety procedures, equipment handling, and crop management.

  • Coordinating harvesting schedules, packaging, and shipment of products.

  • Supervising and overseeing livestock or crop-related programs, depending on operational needs.

Supervision

  • Manage a team of 5 to 10 employees, including greenhouse, nursery, and general farm workers.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role involves both managerial and hands-on work. You should be comfortable with:

  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines and seasonal production targets.

  • Performing physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • A combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.

  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

  • Sound knowledge of greenhouse equipment, irrigation systems, and pest control methods.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to handle production issues efficiently.

  • Ability to maintain high-quality standards while achieving production goals.

  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety practices in agricultural environments.
