• Hours of Work: 20 to 40 hours per week

• Work Schedule: Mornings, daytime, on-call, flexible hours, or as determined by the employer

Overview

The Garrick Hotel in Winnipeg is looking for a responsible and dependable Live-in Caretaker to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has strong problem-solving skills, and takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming living spaces. As the caretaker, you will be responsible for both routine maintenance and tenant support while living on-site with room and board included.

Education and Experience

• Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

• Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant caretaker, janitorial, or building maintenance experience

Work Setting

• Apartment/condominium complex

• Room and board included with the position

Key Responsibilities

As a Live-in Caretaker, your responsibilities will include:

• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing hallways, floors, and stairs.

• Operating industrial vacuum cleaners to remove dirt, scraps, and debris.

• Emptying trash cans and other waste containers regularly.

• Washing windows, interior walls, and ceilings.

• Performing safety and security checks to ensure tenant well-being.

• Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and fixtures.

• Removing snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.

• Performing minor repairs on appliances, drywall, and painting tasks.

• Making adjustments or minor repairs to heating, cooling, plumbing, ventilation, and electrical systems, and contacting tradespersons for major repairs.

• Advertising vacancies and showing apartments or offices to prospective tenants.

• Contacting contractors for maintenance and repair services when required.

• Working independently with minimal supervision to ensure smooth operations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to handle weights of up to 9 kg (20 lbs).

• Comfortable with physically demanding tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
